Competence Network Trusted Cloud
The Kompetenznetzwerk Trusted Cloud e. V. [Competence Network Trusted Cloud] association is responsible for the Trusted Cloud label for cloud services that identifies trusted cloud services in commerce – particularly for medium-sized companies. Furthermore it is responsible for the Trusted Cloud directory for cloud consultants in which trustworthy cloud consultants are listed.
The Kompetenznetzwerk Trusted Cloud e. V. association, founded in mid-2015, emerged from a technology programme of the same name run by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi). One of the things the technology programme achieved was to develop and establish a quality seal for trusted cloud services. The BMWi initiated the Trusted Cloud Competence Network to develop the Trusted Cloud label.
The Competence Network Trusted Cloud (CNTC) offers users, providers an cloud consultants a platform for transferring knowledge of cloud technologies, specifically within the framework of digital transformation of commerce. It also offers decision-making guidance for implementing cloud solutions.
In addition to its personal members, other CNTC members are mainly organisations of IT providers and users as well as individual companies.
Membership of the association is available to individuals as well as companies, organisations and commercial and public institutions.
The composition aims to offer a neutral, cross-industry forum that brings together the experiences and requirements of cloud providers and cloud users. It is actively supported by the BMWi.
- The focus of the activities is to create transparency and build trust in cloud technologies
- To provide orientational knowledge such as checklists and guidelines
- The Trusted Cloud forum serves as an exchange platform for interested parties, as a form of transferring knowledge and as a way of jointly developing requirements
Issues relating to security, data protection, legal compliance and embedding cloud applications into the company's overall architecture are to be worked on and solutions developed communally. The Competence Network Trusted Cloud has therefore set itself the goal of addressing precisely these issues, in order to facilitate the transition to the cloud for commercial entities. To achieve this, the Competence Network Trusted Cloud, among others, is collaborating with the Smart Data Forum (analysis of mass data, e.g. for business processes and decision-making processes) and the Trusted Cloud Data Protection Profile (Trusted Cloud Datenschutzprofil; testing standard in accordance with the German Federal Data Protection Act). This enables CNTC to promote the efficient, secure and compliant use of cloud technologies.
